#13 Barclaybunch II

In Part II of our interview with David Barclay, the man who is the Barclaybunch, we continued our lively discussion into the thoughts of our life here and the life eternal.
David put forth his views and let us know that he wonders if there really is a life after this earthly one and so our discussion continues on his song “When You Know You’ll Be Gone.”

Lead Scripture:
Luke 23:42-43
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.  43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto you, today shall you be with me in paradise.
When we trust in Jesus we can know that we will open our eyes on the other side in his kingdom.

LYRICS
WHEN YOU KNOW YOU'LL BE GONE

Do you think you decided to be here?
Do you think you came of your own free will?
Will you leave this place for a better one?
Or is this the only chance, the only one?

There’s no point dithering and or pondering
When you know you’ll be gone
When it’s done you won’t need it
Your work is done
your rest is eternal
when you open your eyes on the other side

What of your needs?
All those things you desired
The enquiry was there from the start
Striving tears our souls apart
Blink your eyes and you’re gone

Scriptures from Interview
Psalm 90:9
For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.
We do toil in our lives and each of us lives a life that is a story interesting to tell.

Psalm 90:10
10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.”
True, one day we will all leave this earthly plane.  Our bodies do not last for long on this earth.

Psalm 90:12
12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
The only hope we have of a better home after is to accept and know God our Creator here and now, and through him we can ask that he teach us.

Proverbs 20:24
24 Man's goings are of the Lord; how can a man then understand his own way?..”
Only God has all the answers, including the questions we have about ourselves.  Its best to trust him in all things.

Romans 9:20
20But who are you, a mere man, to criticize and contradict and answer back to God? Will what is formed say to him that formed it, Why have you made me thus?
God is still God.

John 9:3-5
We must work the works of Him Who sent Me and be busy with His business while it is daylight; night is coming on, when no man can work.  As long as I am in the world, I am the world’s Light.
Often we waste time in thinking too much when instead we could be busy doing the work that is before us now.

Matthew 6:25-34
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them.  Are ye not much better than they?  27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?  31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?  32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.  33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
We humans tend to worry about everything, but the bible shows us to put God first and trust in him.  He will direct our ways and take away our worries.

Titus 1:2
2 [Resting] in the hope of eternal life, which the ever truthful God Who cannot deceive promised before the world or the ages of time began.
When we trust in the Lord as our Savior then we will find true peace and rest for our souls.
