#05: Mr Dodo

I only know one person who writes and composes songs on his love for toast and that is the famously known Mr. Dodo.
With songs ranging from the unbelievable and hilarious to even serious and thoughtful, his talents and brilliant mind show through. In our interview with him today we were fortunate to listen to his thoughts on how he is able to look at people with some understanding, even those who most would consider beyond receiving any empathy.  We so enjoyed visiting with this SoundCloud legend today and believe you will too as we discuss his song, “Rent a Tyrant.”

Lead Scripture:
I Corinthians 3:11-13
11 For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13  each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work.
The materials used to build on the foundation are spiritual and not to be interpreted literally.  When we build or life on the truth, on faith, hope and love then we can be assured that these things will continue to stand.

LYRICS
Rent A Tyrant

Ruling from your castle with paper ceilings and ceramic floors,
Upon your throne of bitter dreams, with dominion over sorry shores.
Presiding blindly,
You never earned your crown,
And in the blackness,
You’re pride comes crashing down.
Rent a tyrant,
Pounding veins,
The times afford no friends,
Rent a tyrant,
It’ll haunt you,
In the end,
In the end.
You ask what is going wrong and are notified it’s going fine,
You ask if you’re doing ill and are told that all you do’s benign.
A pampered blue-blood,
Inherits everything,
While in the bleakness,
They’re screaming ‘end the king.’
Rent a tyrant,
Pounding veins,
The times afford no friends,
Rent a tyrant,
It’ll haunt you,
In the end,
In the end.

Scriptures from Interview
Proverbs 21:2-4
2 “ Every way of a man is right in his own eyes; But the Lord weighs the hearts.
To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
A high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.”

We do all have the capacity inside of us for forgiveness, but there are people who do choose to go totally after evil.  God is against such.

Proverbs 19:21
21 “There are many devices in a man's heart; But the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.”
No matter what plans we make, it is God’s plan that will come through in the end.

Romans 8:19-21
19 “For the earnest expectation of the creation waits for the manifestation of the sons of God.  20 For the creation was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who has subjected the same in hope  21 that the creation itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.”
God made us and so he understands us even more than we understand ourselves.  He put both the capacity of vanity and hope inside of us and at every moment we have the choice of which nature we will follow.  He is pleased when we seek to follow that which is right and is full of hope, rather than our own selfish ways.
